I'm always on the look out for topical and well run websites. It's kind of become a bit of an obsession. One of those daily searches has come up with The Reckless Gardener .
Now this is what I mean when I bang on about your interest being held as soon as you hit on the home page. You feel compelled to click on all of the links and I must say I like it. The banner is catchy and the sidebars easy and navigation simple.
Being an advocate of Blogging I was drawn to the readers blogging sites at Reckless Blog but I was a little sad to see that there is only the two links there! Perhaps its still early days and Blogs are still in their infancy so I'll book mark it and come back from time to time.
For interest the two blogs are:
Reckless Gardener Blog2 (not an inspiring title) compiled by Sandy. A lady, like millions of others who are passionate about the garden and form part of the phenomenal market which is Horticulture.
The second Blog is of Garden Designer Mark Fenton called Creating a Show Garden - Southport Flower Show.
I am pleased to see Mark has taken this on but I'm quickly switched off because of the lack of content, there are not enough pictures or description and the updates are infrequent.
A blog remember can be bad publicity as well as good, If it works against you then your in trouble. Mark is a designer so that creativity which he seeks to sell in his designs must be portrayed in the site. Readers respond well to lots of photos accompanying descriptive text and perhaps at the beginning an explanation of his brief and budget.
Sorry if I sound too hard Mark.
Marks Website 'Mark Fentons Designs' on first appearances is a little grey and remember first appearances should reflect your professional personality. If your selling a garden design then in my view the initial introduction to the site has got to have that POW! factor.
Mark, get some photos on the site with scans of your designs. Sell me the site as though I was a customer of one of your designs.
Again I wont hide behind the criticism on here, I have contacted Mark and I invite Mark to comment below or send me an email.
