Using Sarsons Vinegar as chemical deactivant

Cooper_pegler How many of you, hands up, have used Cooper Pegler or Allman Sprayer for killing weeds with something like Roundup or Pathclear, washed the contents out and then used the sprayer again to spray the greenfly in the greenhouse or selective weed herbicide on the lawns?

It a dangerous activity and it could end in disaster but a little known tip can help you avoid killing the tomatoes or the prized sward.

Fill your sprayer to three quarters full with warm water. Add one egg cup of Sarson's vinegar and one egg cup full of Fairy Liquid (in fact any washing up liquid) and then top up with water.

Once full, tighten the lid securely and shake about and then spray for 30 seconds to clean the lance through. I used to leave overnight and dispose safely of the washings the following day (a gravel drive is best and the washings will  quickly become inert and not environmentally damaging)

This will neutralize any chemical you might have used and it is safe to use the sprayer on anything you want. Of course owning a separate sprayer is the best option.
