Gardeners are passive people by nature but will stand up and fight if they have to. This will need to be the case for the Allotmenteers on the Manor Garden Allotments because their site is slap bang in the middle of the 2012 Olympic development site.
Some of the allotment holders, like Reg Hawkins (pictured) have been visiting the site for over 50 years have formed an action group to try and get a stay of execution.
There are 80 allotments on the site producing food for 150 families but the London Development Agency says that it cannot be possible for the allotments to remain on what will be a building site for the next 7 years.
