Anyone who is involved in the care of a playing surface is well aware of the need to aerate their soil.
The playing season is very long in this day and age with games being played every weekend, and some weekdays, especially on municipal playing fields.
Local councils are under pressure to keep the surfaces in good shape and often with budgets that do not allow the ground staff to work with much to work with.
If budgets do allow, hire in a contractor with a vertidrain. Vertidraining will provide some very deep action to allow free passage of water and air. Combine it with a regular surface slitting - which is relatively economical to achieve - it will go a long way in helping the under pressure professionals in delivering playable surfaces in demanding and testing circumstances.
I have been looking at the Charterhouse Redexim site where they have a little flash graphic which shows how the system works and the kind of penetration the tines achieve.
