Sir Tom Hunter is not going rest on his laurels it appears. Hunter has recently sent out a clear message to the garden centre and garden retail markets that he intends to dig deep into his pockets and extend his Wyevale garden chain.
If Tesco had not heard of Sir Tom 'Crocodile' Hunter before it launched it's audacious bid for Dobbies they sure do now.
Tesco will be even more aware of The Croc's presence when the rumoured deal for the South West chain of Sanders Garden World is completed.
The Sunday Times, who are keeping schtum on their sources, claim that Hunter has already agreed to aquire Sanders Garden World for around 15 million pounds.
Hunter is certainly playing big and raising the stakes - he owns Wyevale and Blooms too and with a 29% hedged stake in Tesco it appears he is banking on a win win situation unfolding.
Tesco has been forced to keep Dobbies as a listed company and secretly fears that Hunter will be a vocal thorn in their side.
