It is rather ironic that I should talk, yesterday, about Badgers getting into gardens and potentially damaging the lawn.
I received an email today from Stewarts Landscapes telling me of some extensive damage that Badgers have caused to this lawn whilst on the hunt for Chafer grubs (read the details here).
This is a severe example of how bad damage can be to your prized sward. Remember though, this damage, whilst not caused directly by the Chafer grubs, is a symptom of having them in your soil.
Rooks, Magpies, Woodpeckers and Foxes can all contribute - it would be advisable to look out for any activity and grass disturbance and get treatment as soon as possible.
Remember, you can opt for a chemical control by using an application specialist such as Green Thumb or The Lawn Company or by a cultural control such as Nematodes.
Perhaps it is easier to understand why English Heritage thought it imperative to treat a Chafer grub problem on the pathways around Stone Henge.
If Foxes, Badgers or Crows had torn up the grass then a muddy mess would have been certain to ensue.
