One million dollar coconut palm up for grabs
If you have a spare one million dollars kicking about then this rare three headed coconut palm could be your yours. (source BBC)
The rare botanical curiosity, as it has been dubbed, is growing on the Ivory Coast and any buyer would have to have it moved to a new location.
The coconut tree is said to be unusual because they nearly always grow with a single leader unless damaged by a falling frond or insect attack.
Scientists, who are selling the tree because they are in desperate need of research funds, are hoping to reproduce the tree in a bid to discover if this is a one off or not, although it will take a further twenty years for the results to become apparent.
If you like coconut then this tree is a bonus because it produces up to double the amount of coconuts a normal palm would.

I hope you got permission to show this pic, which you've nicked off the BBC News website. I'm sure they'll be in touch…

(before I answer I do help Phil with the site)
Hi Chelsea Pensioner,
I think things are changing a little regards copyright issues and online use.
The value of providing a link to the source of an article or image is being recognised by more media companies than just the BBC.
And whilst there is no real provision for "fair use" in the UK, many publishers see the importance of letting their work be placed in front of new readers on other sites, as long as it is credited.
Naturally if someone is taking every article and image and repackaging them as their own that's different, but in this case Phil has highlighted to his readers an interesting story, illustrated it with the pic but linked through so others can read the full piece.
I think the world of copyright and online publishing is a very fluid environment.
All the best
Craig
