Did anyone watch the formula one motor racing from France last weekend? If you did, you may have noticed that the teams are using an ordinary hand held garden blower/vacuum to introduce air into the car engines to stop them overheating.
I think that this is probably the latest obscure use I have seen for these fantastic machines - I have thought of a few other uses that I have seen or heard of - please feel free to add one of your own.
Bellows - starting or boosting a garden bonfire. It is dangerous to put petrol on a fire and with the cost of oil products it would be a an expensive way to accelerate the flames any way. Once the fire is lit, start your blower and hold it on tick over a foot or so away from the fire. In seconds the fire will be roaring and you can rotate around to direct the flame into debris that has not been burned yet.
A word of warning though, it really will get extremely fierce if you rev the engine too high and watch out for the force of the air blowing burning debris into something that is at risk.
Blowing out your garden maintenance van or perhaps a workshop or garage - much more efficient than using a broom and gets into all the cracks and crevices.
Inflating a bouncy castle although they do tend to be electric for continuous use. I also saw a hot air balloon company use one as well.
Of course, if you cannot find an obscure use for your blower, you could always use the machine for what it was designed to do - clear leaves!
