Recently, I have started a find a landscaper service on Landscape Juice and so far we have had five enquiries that have been distributed among our members.
The normal practice is to send the lead to the group who operate in the enquirers area.
Our latest lead made that process a little difficult to follow because the project is located in France.
I was contacted by Barrie Hoar - who has since joined the network. Barrie runs a small estate in Guitres(Look at Google maps and type in Guitres 33230) near Libourne in France for his son - here is the essence of the enquiry.
"The 4H site consists of a small chateau to be enlarged and restored - also wine storage to be built underground. The site has been subject to a topography plan.
Vineyard is currently 1H with new replanting of another 1H over the next few years.
We are interested in having a complete site planting plan which could be carried out over a period of 3 years. It is important that we firstly plant on the boundaries in order to camouflage some rather unattractive buildings. One thought is that we might have a small lake on the bottom sloping area to take all the surface water from a new drainage system"
You can imagine the scramble from our members who would love the opportunity and experience to work on what sounds to be a wonderful project in idyllic and historical surroundings.
Barrie tells me that the land is adjacent to an enthusiast steam railway so as well as getting to see a bit of French wine history and the opulence of a once graceful chateau, you can go back in time to the steam era as well.
If the project goes to plan, Barrie and the lucky member will be able to collaborate on the network and run a blog of the activity which excites me very much.
The other great thing for me is that the project is only about an hour and a half away from me so I can pop along and add an update to Landscape Juice too.
