Peter Glazebrook doesn't have a problem wiping away the tears after scooping the prize for the heaviest Onion at this Autumns Harrogate Flower show.
The onion, weighing in at a massive fourteen pounds and eleven ounces, was the the fourth heaviest onion in any competition recorded at the show in the last twenty years
Peter, from Halam in Newark raced off with the £500 prize and I suspect a great deal of satisfaction.
Quoted in Yorkshire Post, Peter says "A lot of the success comes from getting the right seed. Mine came from Billy Lamb in the North East and he deserves a lot of credit,".
Having won the prize in '91, Peter is no stranger to success but his onion on that occasion was a lightweight ten pounds and nine ounces.
It is turning out to be quite a fortnight for the ex building surveyor who also won an award at the national amateur gardening giant vegetable show at the Royal Bath and West show ground.
The Post goes on to quote Peter "I'm having quite a fortnight," he said.
