TV makeover shows have become as normal a viewing program as soaps and the news.
Focus tends to be on the presenter and the speed that a run-down or overgrown garden can be transformed while the owner is away - usually over a weekend.
Often overlooked is the supporting cast of qualified and skilled landscapers.
Just before Christmas, Scottish landscaper Nicky Patterson of Newton Mearns in Glasgow took a call from the ITV production team and asked if his company GardenImprovements.com would be interested in taking part.
Nicky considered the marketing spin-off's that his involvement might bring and jumped at the chance.
The unsuspecting recipient was Margaret Traynor, a nurse at Glasgow's Yorkhill Sick Children's Hospital.
Nicky explained that on the day, the plan didn't quite go as smooth as planned with TV celebrity gardener David Domoney arriving very late in the afternoon of the first day after getting caught up while travelling.
Pop over to Nicky's page on the Landscape Juice Network for his tale about his whirlwind romance with TV gardening and watch out for Nicky in the future because he has been promised more work with David which could potentially mean building a show garden at Chelsea.
