For the first time ever the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea International Flower Show, will be looking for the Chelsea Florist of the Year.
The British Florist Association (BFA) and the RHS will be searching for the very best from the UK professional floristry industry who will battle it out for the titles of ‘Chelsea Florist of the Year’ and the ‘Young Chelsea Florist of the Year’.
Regional heats are taking place with the winners of the respective areas coming to Chelsea in May for the finals.
The winner will have used their skills and knowledge and awareness of the current floral fashions to create a display of fresh flowers and foliage with their arrangements going to form a spectacular display within the show’s Great Pavilion.
Some of the world’s best nurseries will also be exhibiting at Chelsea. Zita Elze, the Brazilian florist who will be exhibiting at Chelsea for the first time in 2009, bringing here style, often said to be one of painting with flowers
Visitors to the show will also be able to see floral arrangement in action within the Floral Design Marquee. The National Association of Floral Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) will be working on a floral design throughout the week of the show, to demonstrate some of the skills and techniques required to create a floral display at the world’s most famous flower show.
