The British Trust for Conservation Volunteers BTCV are celebrating fifty years since their formation with a special meeting and workshop at the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
The first ever project that BTCV undertook was a mass clearance on Box Hill in 1959 when David Bellamy and forty two other volunteers cleared undergrowth and boxwood.
On World Environment Day, Friday 5th June, one hundred staff and volunteers complete a willow sculpture to commemorate their involvement with the restoration at the famous Cornish gardens.
