Heatwave is official as alert is raised to level three

The Met Office today confirmed that parts of the United Kingdom are now officially in a heatwave and has raised the heatwave alert to level 3.

Temperatures have touched thirty one degrees in the South East England and are expected to rise to thirty two tomorrow (2nd July 2009) before cooler weather and some heavy downpours move across from the West from Thursday.

There is the possibility of rain for the men's final at Wimbledon on Sunday.
