BBC Gardeners' Question Time panellist John Cushnie, has died of a heart attack aged sixty-six.
The Northern Ireland based garden expert was also an established garden designer and landscaper but is more widely known for his forty one years on GQT.
John also presented a a TV program called Greenmount Garden for BBC One Northern Ireland.
Controller of BBC Radio 4, Mark Damazer, said on his blog: "There was no sign at all of anything wrong - so his death on New Year's Eve comes as a very big and unwelcome shock."
