Nearly six weeks after it was imposed the United Utilities hosepipe water ban has been lifted today, August 19th.
Currently Pennine reservoir levels are low at 53.8%, but North and West Cumbria are 99.2%, higher than average. United Utilities will transport water across regions to balance supplies. They are still asking for people to be 'water wise'.
Heavy rain has fallen since the water ban was imposed. Five girls had to be rescued on Loft Beck, Cumbria, following torrential rain and rising water levels late July.
