Thefts from British gardens cost the economy millions of pounds every year forcing insurance premiums to rise.
I've personally experienced loss many times. Items such as ladders, wheelbarrows and even vehicles were taken in the dead of night. Plant pots, freshly filled with summer bedding, were stolen from outside the front door during the daytime.
To help home owners deter potential thieves, the Metropolitan Police have produced a list of plants you can place strategic to make it difficult for anyone gaining access via vulnerable areas...the only thing is, I'm not so sure about their choice.
The Met meant well but I wouldn't consider their list isn't exhaustive.
For example, Gunnera manicata needs to grow in damp areas; normally next to a water source: how many people living on a housing estate, for example, have a moat around the house;)
What would you add to the list?
