Her Salad Bar garden was then chosen by BBC2 Gardeners' World live to be filmed in the making. Then the viewers and visitors rewarded it with the Visitor vote 2010 and the RHS judges awarded a silver medal.

Landscape People drives free recruitment for the landscape architecture industry

The landscape architecture industry is suffering just like the many other businesses closely linked to construction and the public sector.

Chloe Nickson of Landscape People says: "before the financial crisis, the landscape architecture industry was showing some real signs of growth but the credit crunch has caused a reversal and left everyone in a state of limbo.

Chloe continued: "The worst of the crisis has potentially passed other industries by and they can start getting back to normal, plan their futures and start hiring new employees but the public sector cuts look set to impact landscape architects further meaning no let up to the tightening of belts.

I asked Chloe how this uncertainty has affected the jobs market and more importantly, with all of the belt tightening, how are landscape architect's practices going to attract the right personnel when things start to improve?

Horticruitment buys English Country Gardeners

Now, this is an interesting development for the horticulture recruitment industry.

Horticruitment UK Limited has acquired English Country Gardeners Limited: English Country Gardeners specialise in finding gardeners for country homes and private estates.

I don't think this will be the last acquisition or merger we'll see in the recruitment space as the internet continues to disrupt traditional business models.

Only last week I looked at a well known weekly horticulture title and saw Google adverts on their recruitment page.

Looking for a garden design vacancy in Surrey

The successful candidate will possess great communications skills, be friendly, presentable and highly personable. Canididates will also need to be computer literate.

Working under the Creative Director, you will be involved in site analysis, drawing up site surveys and preliminary 2D presentation plans and whilst garden design experience or qualifications are helpful, they are not essential.

Experienced Head Gardener to work on a small private estate in Stanmore, Middlesex.

The estate is set in 35 acres with 5 acres of formal lawns, bedding around the house, a walled kitchen garden, paddocks and woodland. The applicant must exhibit good man-management abilities to supervise two under-gardeners and be able to multi-task.

Excellent horticultural knowledge is essential as is the ability to multi-task on the various daily gardening responsibilities and to work well with a small but dedicated team.

Horticulture Week seeks news reporters
