Kilworth Machinery of Ashby de la Zouch have designed a rather neat trimmer to cut the grass around the legs of the support tables in strawberry tunnels.
Seeing the machine in action I immediately thought of all of the innovative ways I could use this machine for contract groundcare applications.
Trimming along the base of perimeter hedges; trimming and cleaning grass away from posts and fences; strimming around goal posts etc.
TGA advising homeowners to avoid watering established lawns during hot dry weather.
The Turfgrass Growers Association, whose members produce more than 70% of the turf grown in the British Isles, says that during hot weather, the watering of established lawns can be wasteful and unnecessary.
“Our message to homeowners is not to worry if your lawn goes brown during the summer”, says its Chief Executive, Tim Mudge.
“Going brown is the natural survival mechanism of grass. When water is in short supply grass responds by shutting down. The brown colour shows that it has stopped growing until more favourable conditions return. Grass is remarkably resilient, and as long as you follow a few basic rules, most lawns will recover completely when the rain finally arrives.”

Gary Mumby, managing director of BLEC, has reported a successful visit to the Golf Industry Show (GIS) in Orlando to launch their new Multivator.
"It was great to be back in the US meeting the customers we have dealt with over the years, showing our commitment to our export markets, " said Gary. "At the GIS golf show in particular we met many customers from Europe and Asia."
It's the first return to the US since restructuring in 2009.

On paper, having a mower that's capable of jumping out of its auto-docking station and roaming effortlessly around areas of up to 6000m2, tackling slopes and even carrying on during the rain, sound ideal for the man or women who has little time in their schedule to spend their weekends cutting grass.
But is the Husqvarna robotic mower a serious machine or just a gimmick?
On the plus side the machine boasts great efficiency using only the same amount of power it would take to light a standard household bulb and because it's powered by solar energy, there's no need for refuelling.
I don't think many landscapers would challenge me if I said that, as far as landscaping machinery is concerned, Blec has very few rivals when it comes to soil preparation, stone removal and grading (not to mention turf care equipment).
I'm delighted to say that Blec Global Ltd have signed up to our Creating Landscapes trade show for October 2010. With still over nine months to go, we've got an impressive list of exhibitors - all of which I think provide something of value and importance for the most important person in the sales process...YOU, the user.
Northern Ireland based turf machinery company, Groundsman Industries, has signed up to exhibit at Creating Landscapes at Capel Manor on October 25-26 this 2011.
This is especially pleasing for me because I've got first hand experience with using their kit - which I have to say, is of the highest quality and robustness.
As a qualified greenkeeper, I provided through my company, extensive domestic lawn care and commercial turf maintenance services and when we acquired a the 460SDR aerator, our earning capabilities spiralled.
