The Eden Project has been a triumph, not just to horticulture and land regeneration but for technology as well.
The Biospheres themselves are a civic engineering masterpiece and the whole set up has made Cornwall a number one destination for garden and Eco warriors enthusiasts alike.
Technology plays a big part of what the Eden Project is all about and I am thrilled that we now have the facility to watch some of what goes on via live web cams.
This was recently highlighted by the early flowering of the worlds largest and smelliest flower, the Titum arum (Amorphophallus titanum).
A web cam was set up in Eden’s Rainforest Biome especially for web viewers to watch this gigantic flower unravel and mature.
Sadly it has passed its best and now is wilting away but the camera is still live so if you would like to catch a peek then here is the link.
Whilst in flower, samples of the Titum arum were taken by Prof. Tony Moore of Sussex University to establish if the plant is able to assist medicine in fighting disease.
