Thanks to Write on and Richard for leaving the comments about the Garden Writers Guild. I was going to respond with a comment myself but I thought it was probably best to re-visit my last post of August 2006.
I think I am safe to stand by my criticism of the Writers Guild's website. It is boring, outrageously coloured, unfathomable in it's layout and poorly set up as a website.
I can still envisage old duffers with a pipe, asleep at the bureau after consuming too much port at a wet lunch with old faithful by his side.
There is plenty of emphasis on self importance of being a member of the Garden Writers Guild but I do not see any examples on the site of any of their members work!
I have to agree that in contrast the Garden Photographers Association website, and from what I can see of them as an association, aspire to so much more.
The site for a start is so much fresher and exudes a passion and a sense of caring in itself. One only needs to peruse the members galleries to quickly understand that these ladies and gentlemen really know how to take great photographs.
The only part of this association of associations that really perplexes me is why the two remain associated?
Understanding the essence of Write on's comment it seems the GPA has been tarnished with a broad brush.
