As you can read in my CV below, i am an accomplished project manager / course manager with first-rate leadership skills and a proven record of success. Aswell as my reputation for being positive, i have always developed good working relationships with fellow employees, owners, members, guests and committees.
I have worked with many different types of grass from tropical (bermuda’s, pasplum) to cool temperate (fescue, agrostis, lolium and poa). I am also experienced with computerised irragation systems. Also i have a broad experience in how to market a golfcourse. And finally i know how to setup a management and accounting system.

I have always enjoyed setting and maintaining high standards in developing and maintaining golf courses.

EDUCATION

1970-1975: Barnard Castle School, Barnard Castle, Co Durham (Boarding Pupil), 5 O' level passes.
1975-1977: Ashington Technical College, Ashington, Northumberland. Studied Art and Geography.
1978: Kirkley Hall College of Agriculture, Kirkley Hall, Ponteland, Northumberland. Block release course in Horticulture. (whilst working at Alnmouth Golf Club).


EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Mar 2007=present
SITE MANAGER Frankfurt in Germany.9 new holes.

Mar 2006 =2007
SITE MANAGER Luzern in Switerland.Site consists of 9 new holes.I was responsible for all earth works,green,tee construction and drainage.

Oct 2003 – 2006
COURSE MANAGER Olympus Golf course, Amsterdam in Holland. Also here i was brought in to re-establish the course which had died from adverse wheather conditions and poor management. This golf course is a 27-hole course very close to Amsterdam with an average of 80.000 rounds a year. I succeeded in transforming the greens from a very poor condition to a very high standard.Consultant to 6 other courses in Holland including the Haig.

Sept 1998 - 2003:
CONSULTANT SUPERVISOR in GLORIA GOLF RESORT, Belek, Turkey. I was brought in to re-establish the golf course which had died from pythium due to extreme weather conditions. The tees, fairways and greens were all overseeded and during 1998.In 1999 the fairways and tees were converted to Bermuda 419, in which I also established a Tiff Dwarf nursery, ready for converting greens in 2000. A water range was constructed in 1999. I oversaw the construction, grow in and maintenance of a further 9 holes. The current 27 holes has an annual turnover of 48,000 rounds.I simultaneously oversaw the construction, grow in and maintenance of two football pitches. (Visiting teams include: Turkish national side for world Cup training, PSV Eindhoven, Galatasaray, Basel, Champions League).
In 1999 Gloria held the European PGA Seniors Qualifying School, in the season 2000-2001 the BEKO European Seniors Classic and in 2001 the European Mid-Amateur Championship.

CONSULTANT to Antalya and Adana football grounds (both Premier Leagues).

June 1996 - sept 1998:
COURSE MANAGER in ABUJA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB, Abuja, Nigeria. I was working here during 1992-1994. I was recalled to repair damaged and diseased greens and to prepare the course for the Nigerian Open, held in february 1997 and 1998.

CONSULTANT to FIFA, worldcup 1999. Whilst working in Abuja I was recruited as a Consultant for the construction and preparation of football pitches for the Under 21 World Cup in Nigeria.
CONSULTANT to LNG NIGERIA (SHELL) - I also acted as a Consultant to advise on course design, irrigation systems, tree placement and construction of a 9 holes golf course in Bonny Island, Nigeria.

Apr 1995 - Mar 1996 :
PROJECT MANAGER in DREIHOF GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB ,Landau,Germany. The site consists of a driving range, 9 hole course and 18 hole Championship course under construction. I was responsible for completing the 9 hole course and driving range including re-spreading top soil, tee and green construction, bunker construction, drainage and irrigation, seeding and initial maintenance. I also was responsible for the marking out and top soil strip and earth moving for the 18 hole course. Work ceased in December for the winter months.

Apr 1994 - dec 1994:
PROJECT MANAGER in ADARE HOTEL &GOLF CLUB, Adare, Co Limerick, Eire. There I was responsible for the grading, earth moving, shaping, slicking off, seeding and maintenance of the course. Also responsible for hiring, training and appraisals of staff, purchasing and maintenance of course machinery, chemicals and fertilisers. The course had been laid out in 1989 and top soil removed. Due to financial reasons, work had been discontinued. I was approached in early 1994 by the new contractors to oversee the project which was completed ahead of its revised schedule. The course is a Robert Trent Jones Snr, design and I worked alongside Trent Jones's staff, overseeing their operation. I was responsible for the construction of USGA specification and the installation of full irrigation and drainage.

Apr 1992 - Mar 1994:
PROJECT MANAGER in ABUJA GOLF&COUNTRY CLUB, Abuja, Nigeria.
I oversaw the construction of a second 9 holes of the first grass course in West Africa. I was simultaneously responsible for the maintenance of the excisting 9 holes course. installation of irrigation and drainage, ordering of seed, fertilisers, machinery and spares, maintenance and repairs to course machinery and budgeting were all my responsibility. In addition I oversaw a local workforce of 120. I also gained experience in the maintenance of lawn tennis courts, football and cricket pitches and I established a 2 acre plant and tree nursery.
I was also retained to design irrigation, planting and maintenance of gardens in the Presidential Palace in Abuja.
In this period I also worked for a German construction company as a specialist in erosion control for road constructions.

1992:
TIPPARARY GOLF CLUB, Tipparary, Eire. CONSTRUCTION TEAM - Work included building of a further 9 holes of Parkland course,tee,green and bunker construction.

1986-1991:
ALNMOUTH GOLF CLUB, Foxton Hall,Alnwick,Northumberland. GREENKEEPER – Golf course and machinery maintenance, tree surgery and felling included.

1985-1986:
SUNNINGDALE GOLF CLUB, Surrey. Maintenance of golf course and course preparation for major tournaments.

1979-1985:
SELF EMPLOYED - Work included assisting in the preparation and maintenance of grass courts at Queens Tennis Club, London, for the Stella Artois Tennis Tournament, tree surgery, felling and nursery work.

1978:
ALNMOUTH GOLF CLUB, Foxton ,Alnwick,Northumberland. ASSISTANT GREENKEEPER - maintenance of golf course and machinery.
