Having excavated several thousands of tons of soil and spoil from gardens over twenty one years I often imagined myself coming across some kind of hidden treasure or historical relic.
Sadly, apart from the odd army cap badge or a few brass buttons it never happened for me.
This cannot be said for Landscapers who excavated the garden of Chris Hobbs in the village Norton, near Letchworth in Cambridgeshire.
In 1995, while landscapers were excavating part of Mr Hobbs garden to build a pond they came across fragments of pottery which has since been dated to the 13th century.
Thirteen years after the event, the Norton Community Archaeological Group are revisiting the site in an attempt to gather more evidence.
