Discovering Orchids in France

I do not consider myself an expert on Orchids but it is a subject that I take a very genuine interest in.

I have spent a fair bit of time photographing Orchids this spring and early summer in the meadows around Jean Blanc but I have nowhere near the same extensive photographic collection as Simon and Susan at the Days on the Claise blog.

They have identified an impressive twenty seven species of Orchid this year which is four times the amount as last year.

I must admit that this year seems to have been a good year generally for wild flower here in France and I even saw my first Bee Orchid (in fact I saw a whole meadow of them).

Lots of wild orchids in South of France.
About 60 species at 30 km around Grenoble.
