The Good Life actor Richard Briers has joined up with the villagers of Sipson, Garden Organic, Greenpeace and Alys Fowler of Gardeners' World fame to plant out an allotment that is right in the heart of the proposed new runway on the edge of Heathrow Airport.
The allotment, which is on a parcel of land bought up by Greenpeace, Emma Thompson and now has forty three thousand people with an interest in it and dubbed the 'airplot', will be used to grow endangered plants from seed out of the Soil Association's Heritage Seed Library
Garden Organic, the official website of the Soil Association reports that Sipson is famous as the home Cox's Orange Pippin apple and that the land around Sipson was once covered with market gardens all supplying fresh fruit and vegetables for the London area.
The third runway at Heathrow has massive opposition - visit the No Third Runway Action Group website.
