The Queen has jumped onto the 'grow your own' fad and started a vegetable plot at Buckingham Palace.
The Times reports that the 30 feet by 12 feet organic patch is sited in an area called the Yard Bed which had previously used for growing flowers.
It's becoming fashionable to grow your own but I cannot quite see this tiny plot feeding the palace - it would be great to see a concerted effort of bringing back self sufficiency to the 'big house'.
There are reports that Sarah Brown wants to start an organic veggie patch but I cannot see this happening. She would probably have to pop back and ask Samantha Cameron if it is OK to harvest the produce.
One lady who has time on her hands with at least four years to grow lots of different varieties is Michelle Obama in the White House garden.
It's all a bit of a contrast to 1918 when the palace gardens were given over to vegetable gardening to make up for war shortages.
