The "major exhibitors", are only part of the problem.

Too many years of producing shows out-of-touch with their audience of sponsors & visitors.

What about the organizers/producers of the show? Culpability there too. What's their mission statement. Obviously it's too small.

Art festivals, music festivals, & etc, in USA, typically have a judging group assuring the quality of performers/talent/exhibitors & ability to satisfy the mission statement of their show. Producing a venue satisfying to sponsors & visitors.

Blaming it ALL on the landscape industry & economy? Bogus.

Douglasville, GA produces the Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival with display gardens, judged flower show, vendors, & garden tour. Its success is validated with high turnout of paying visitors, paying sponsors, national awards & government grants. Government grants? They realized the importance of this festival to its tourism industry.

Think small & you get small. Or, alas, no show at all.

Garden & Be Well, XO Tara
