The British Geological Survey has reported a 3.5 magnitude earthquake centred below the Coniston area of Cumbria. It lasted about a minute and was reported by many people in the local area.
The last earthquake to hit the region was the 3.7 ML Ulverstone earthquake on 28 April 2009.
