The government's attempt to gather opinion on business regulation through its Red Tape Challenge website moves to matters of health and safety on June 30.
Since April the site has been covering individual industry sectors and issues looking to draw on the experience and advice of the public to help cut unnecessary regulations.
From Thursday it is the turn of health and safety to come into the spotlight with the future of around 200 regulations under debate over the next three weeks.
Chris Grayling MP, the employment minister, said: "This is the opportunity that every beleaguered business leader, incredulous community group or outraged newspaper reader has been waiting for - a chance to directly change the laws underpinning Britain's health and safety culture.
"The purpose of health and safety regulation must be to protect people at work, not interfere unnecessarily.
"We will listen and we will act on what people have got to say, so it's never been more important for people to make their voice heard."
The regulations subject to public scrutiny fall under four themes:
- general health and safety
- major hazard industries
- higher risk workplaces
- dealing with hazardous chemicals and materials
