Take a look at the two photos below. They represent the very best at both ends of the landscape and horticulture industry.
The first image (above) is of a magnificently created and maintained topiaried box in Devon.
Landscape Juice Network member, John Fielder, manages this topiary feature and a private client's garden in Ashburton, Devon.
It's a classic example of how planting created form and shape but because it's living the hedges change character throughout the year. In this photograph the fresh lime green growth brings out the informal softness of the feature...later on, after clipping back the hedges will revert to a more formal contrived appearance.
In the second image (below) Jez Young creates a moongate from Welsh stone close to the west Welsh coast.
Each stone is carefully selected to sit tightly against the next forming the self supporting arched circle which itself creates an excellent frame for the vista beyond.
I think you'd agree, both craftsmen have made the most of two natural products in two totally different ways.
