If like me you were completely in awe of the British athletes (and some foreign ones too) who excelled at London 2012 then you'd probably also want to encourage younger generations to follow in their footsteps, wheel tracks or wake, and emulate British success at future games?
However to achieve success we need training facilities and open spaces for children to play and learn.
The basic and most useful training facility is the school playing field, but they are being sold off at an alarming rate.
"Mr Gove’s commitment to preserving playing fields has been challenged after The Daily Telegraph disclosed he overruled his advisers on five sales in just 15 months.
"The Daily Telegraph also revealed that Mr Gove had approved 50 per cent more playing field sales than his department had previously admitted in a Freedom of Information reply.
"The Department for Education is controversially dropping legal quotas of space per pupil, which critics fear could make it easier for schools to build on playing fields."
38 Degrees, one of the UK's biggest campaigning communities, with over one million members, has launched a petition to force the government to stop selling off school playing fields.
If you feel as strongly as I do you'll pop along and sign it now.
