A UK artificial lawn supplier has won a £300,000 contract to install an adventure course at a brand new Centre Parcs complex in Woburn.
Centre Parcs has selected LazyLawn to add the artificial touch to its greens, transforming 1,500 square metres of turf into a nine-hole golf course at the Woburn Forest holiday village, which is due to open in March 2014.
Showcase Greens, LazyLawn licensee and golf course specialists, won the contract after refurbishing other golf courses for Centre Parcs.
David Lowe, of Showcase Greens, comments: “This is an exciting project to be involved with and we are delighted to have been selected by Centre Parcs to install their latest adventure golf course.
“In order to emulate the different textures of grass a golf course requires, we are using five types of artificial grass with varying pile heights and colouring.
“The result will be a low maintenance adventure golf course that looks authentic and delivers the same golfing experience as a course covered in natural turf."
A ten-man team will work on the project from September, with work expected to be completed in December.
A second nine-hole golf course will be installed during autumn 2014.
The adventure golf course is part of a £200 million project to create a fifth Centre Parcs complex in the heart of Bedfordshire.
David adds: “We have also worked on other projects for Centre Parcs previously, completing refurbishment work on adventure golf courses at a number of other sites.
“Artificial golf courses are growing in popularity as more clubs become aware of the major benefits they offer; we are currently installing around 35 artificial golf greens every year and are confident the trend will continue to grow.”
LazyLawn has completed a number of high profile projects, including supplying £250,000 of artificial turf for the London 2012 Olympic Village, creating a temporary installation at Wimbledon for the Lawn Tennis Association and installing the Big Brother garden.
