Four garden designers, whose designs were chosen for Raymond Blanc National Heritage Garden Competition, will give their final presentation on Monday to determine who'll go forward to design the organic vegetable garden at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons.
The final four are Alex Johnson, Anne Keenan, Karolyn Mowll and Kathy Taylor.
The competition invited Registered Members of the Society of Garden Designers to submit design concepts for a new kitchen garden, using heritage vegetables from the Garden Organic seed library, to be sited within the kitchen gardens at Raymond Blanc’s two-Michelin star restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons.
The competition aims to raise awareness of organic gardening methods, preserving knowledge and safeguarding rare varieties that were once the mainstay of our British gardens.

The competition has two elements. The first phase invites Registered Members and Fellows of the Society of Garden Designers to enter a master plan and planting plan for a new Heritage Garden that will be sited within the kitchen gardens at Le Manoir.
The winning design will be chosen for its ability to create a perfectly integrated eco system and will include consideration of its carbon footprint, organic varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs.
The successful designer, who will be awarded a fee of £2,500 for the project, will be responsible for the overall planning and planting and for overseeing the building of the garden, working alongside the team at Le Manoir.
The team of judges is headed by Raymond Blanc.
