Abu Ward ran the last garden centre in war torn Aleppo. He was assisted by his devoted son Ibrahim.
Channel4 News covered their story as part of a documentary of life in the besieged city.
Plants and flowers became a symbol of hope.
Abu Ward was killed by a shell dropped near to the garden centre and died instantly. The garden centre is now closed.
They must have sat for hours on their chairs in the garden surrounded by their flowers, father and son they seemed so close, you could see the pain etched on the sons face, very sad indeed..I hope all of this craziness comes to an end soon.
