The obsession with watering our gardens during periods of dry weather is a myth, according to a new study. A team of researchers from the Universities of Manchester, Edinburgh, Southampton and Lancaster found that 38% of 1,802 people they surveyed have nothing to water in their gardens at all. Just under 18% hope for rain while seeing the garden as a place under development. These people were less likely to see their garden as an outdoor living area, but tended to tidy-up in springtime.
